API Integration Issue Preventing My Gaming Website Product Listings From Syncing Correctly With eBay
Summary: joeroo_74 is experiencing challenges with synchronizing product listings between their gaming website and eBay. They describe issues with updated product information not being reliably reflected on eBay, leading to mismatches in inventory data. comics-scifi-collectibles suggests checking eBay's policy on digitally delivered products and provides detailed steps for setting up a seller account on eBay to ensure proper listing processes. They also offer resources to help with payment and selling setup on eBay.
Hello eBay Community,
I am currently facing a persistent technical issue with my gaming website and its integration with eBay, and I am looking for guidance from the community to understand what might be causing the problem. My website is focused on gaming-related products and digital gaming resources, and I have been working on connecting my website inventory system with eBay so that product information can be managed more efficiently. The main issue is that the synchronization between my website and eBay is not working reliably. Some gaming product listings are successfully created or updated, but others fail to appear correctly, remain outdated, or do not reflect the latest changes made on my website. This creates a mismatch between the information stored on my website and what customers see on eBay.
The problem occurs mainly when my website sends updated product information to eBay through the integration process. For example, when I update product titles, descriptions, pricing details, stock availability, or images on my website, the changes are not always transferred correctly to the corresponding eBay listings. In some situations, the API request appears to complete successfully from my website’s side, but the listing on eBay still displays the previous information. Other times, new gaming product listings created from my website do not appear immediately or fail to become visible after the synchronization process finishes. This inconsistent behaviour makes it difficult to maintain accurate inventory and provide customers with reliable product information.
I have already checked the technical configuration of my integration, including authentication settings, API credentials, request formatting, and the data structure being sent from my website. The connection between my website and eBay appears to be established correctly because some products sync without any issues. However, the same workflow does not produce consistent results for every product, even when the data format and process remain identical. This makes me suspect that there may be a problem with how certain product data is being processed, validated, or handled during the synchronization process rather than a complete connection failure.
Another challenge is that the issue is difficult to reproduce consistently because it does not happen with every update or every product. Some gaming listings update within a short time, while others remain unchanged for much longer periods. I have reviewed the logs generated by my website and can confirm that the synchronization tasks are being triggered properly. However, I do not always receive enough information from the response data to understand why a specific listing update is not reflected correctly on eBay. Because the failures are intermittent, it has become challenging to identify whether the issue is related to listing processing delays, data validation rules, or another limitation within the integration workflow.
This problem has started affecting my overall workflow because I need to manually compare my website inventory with my eBay listings to ensure everything is accurate. For a gaming website with multiple products and frequent updates, manually checking every listing is not a practical long-term solution. I want to create a reliable automated system where changes made on my website are consistently reflected on eBay without requiring manual corrections. I have also reviewed whether the issue could be related to product categories or specific gaming-related fields, but I have not been able to identify a clear pattern that explains why certain listings fail while others work correctly.
I would appreciate guidance from the eBay community regarding the best way to troubleshoot this type of synchronization problem. Specifically, I would like to understand how to verify whether a listing update has been fully processed after an API request, how to identify hidden validation issues, and what recommended practices should be followed when connecting an external website inventory system with eBay. Any advice on improving the reliability of the integration, monitoring failed synchronization attempts, or handling delayed listing updates would be extremely helpful. My goal is to ensure that my gaming website https://jenny-mod.net/ and eBay listings remain accurately synchronized so customers always see correct product information. Sorry for long post!

Mentor2 weeks ago@joeroo_74 Are these digitally delivered games? Unless you are an approved seller those MUST be listed in the classified format which costs $9.95 per listing, no other fees when the item sells but the listing fee is NOT refundable
See the policy here>

The other possible issue is that you need to first set up seller account. List an item directly on the site and follow the steps to get started.
Here's how to set up your seller account:
All buyers payments are managed by eBay and sent to your linked checking account. eBay doesn't offer the debit card payout option at first.
You need to create your first listing directly on eBay to get your seller account set up.
Complete these steps in this order.
a) Draft a listing on eBay, click submit or "list it". The system should guide you through setup. If not, follow these steps:
b) Verify/update/complete your Profile Registration: Name, address, phone number, identity information (profile) on your eBay Account: https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile
-- Use your Street Address, even if you don’t get mail there.
-- Make sure to use your full legal name and that it matches your bank account and government ID ( drivers license etc)
c) And add a Checking Account ( it must be a brick and mortar checking account) and Credit/Debit Card: https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list
You will need to provide a SS# or ITIN to receive your payouts.
Please check to see if you have BOTH a Checking account marked for "Used for payouts" and a credit/debit card. One of these (bank account or card) needs to be marked for "Preferred for selling costs" I use a credit card for selling costs so that refunds and other fees don't come from my checking account.
