Am I required to reimburse the buyer for the additional postage he paid directly to USPS
Hi, I need help with an eBay Standard Envelope order where USPS charged the buyer $8.09 in additional postage twice. I already paid to resend the order once, and the buyer has now accepted the cards and is asking me to reimburse the second postage charge. I’d like to know whether I’m responsible for reimbursing that charge and whether the USPS postage issue can be reviewed.
The buyer purchased 5 baseball cards for $10 and paid $1.36 shipping. The first eBay Standard Envelope was refused because USPS said $8.09 additional postage was due, so it was returned to me.
I purchased a second eBay label and mailed the cards again. The second envelope was approximately 4x6, weighed under 3 oz., and was under 1/4 inch thick. USPS again charged the buyer $8.09. This time the buyer paid it and accepted the package.
The buyer is now asking me to reimburse the $8.09. The order shows I paid $2.72 total for the two shipping labels, and after eBay fees and both labels my total earnings were only $6.62.
I’m trying to find out:
Am I required to reimburse the buyer for the additional postage he paid directly to USPS?
Can eBay or USPS review why an $8.09 postage-due charge was assessed twice?
If the buyer leaves negative feedback because I don’t reimburse him, would that feedback be eligible for review or removal?
