Already returned item w/o ebay return process
Hi,
I received wrong item and contacted seller. He told me to ship it out and then he would send the correct item. I brought item to PO and paid for it myself. My tracking says it was delivered on Saturday 1/10/26.
I just initiated the return process because the seller has been lying to me. But how do I attach the correct usps tracking number to the return? I see no way to do that. And how do I file for a refund?
Thanks
rpm

In the future file through eBay first with an official return claim. Since all you did was pay to ship the item back outside eBay's claim process the Seller is under no obligation to either refund you or ship a replacement. Honest Sellers will of course do what they say but others will simply see it as a way to make money.
When using eBay for returns you are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the date of receipt: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
If you do not have the original item to return then an official claim is useless because you would have to send back an empty box and the Seller would Report you and then possibly withhold your original shipping and 50% of the item price.
You can try filing a dispute with your funding source, PayPal, credit card, etc. but there is no guarantee you will win the dispute ... but if you do the Seller will be charged an additional $ 20 for losing the dispute.
Really sorry that happened.
