Allstate protection plan
I found a brand new Fitbit watch and I was going to buy it and at the same time pay for Allstate 3 years protection plan (it was offered in the posted add). The seller offered "Make an offer" so I made one and the seller accepted it. I didn't know that eBay will automatically complete the purchase, therefore I couldn't add the protection plan.
Per eBay help suggestion I went to https://pages.ebay.com/services/hub.html and searched for my item number #135028364175 with no luck. Couldn't find it.
The item is still in transit. Is any way to still add a protection plan (I want a couple of years, no eBay 3 month)?
There other instance of this happening: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Ask-a-Mentor/Allstate-protection-plans/td-p/33730093
Thanks in advance,
Javier

OP2 years agoHi,
I did contacted them. They don't know why this happen but suggested me to get to their web site and buy an extended protection plan through them. I did that but their system only offers generic smart watch protection, and for the lowest price range from 0~$150 the cost of their plan is 41$, almost the price I paid in eBay for the Fitbit (51$). So, I decided not to.
Anyway, at least is good to know that "Make an Offer" won't allow us to add any protection plan.
Thanks for the help!

I think this may be tied to the "Make an Offer" part of the equation.
I know the option is there for some items, I had one of my used laptops that I sold the buyer also purchased an extended warranty with it. But that was not on an offer, just a Buy it Now.
I still think this is a bug of some sort, and its in-line with the other issues that Make an Offer have been causing for some buyers and sellers.

OP2 years agoHi Gator08041971
Thanks for your prompt answer...
"Now my understanding of this is that you need to have purchased that item in order for the item number to pop the option, but so far, it has not worked for anything I have tried, but not sure if any of my recent purchases qualified for a warranty in the first place"
For new items most of he time the Extended warranty option is there when you buy the item, is as simple as adding it to the cart with the item (it was in my case). Based on what you just tried, I suspect eBay (or Allstate) won't allow us to add the extended warranty AFTER purchasing the item, despite what eBay says (eBay help). Bummer.

It may still be possible according to the FAQ section of the page below.
After checkout, you can still purchase it from the payment confirmation page or through your post-purchase reminder email. If you are not seeing either option their contact information is on the page to ask if (and how) you can purchase.

OP2 years agoYes, I read that. That page sent to https://pages.ebay.com/services/hub.html
But unless "Make an Offer" has a different set of rule, I'm assuming that is mistaken or misleading.

Try contacting them via the phone number on the help page for customer service. They should know if it is possible to purchase now.

I see two possibilities. One, because Make an Offer was used, this may void the option of purchasing the Protection.
However the more likely issue also coincides with the issue where Make an Offer can also prevent you from buying multiples of an item or grouping that item with other items from the same seller to save on shipping, things like this.
I do know there are some issues with using the Make an Offer feature with some listings, and some sellers have the option enabled to require payment when using buy it now. Some don't even know that option is enabled, however when you throw the Make an Offer into the mix, that may override that option anyway.
Now.
That said, there may be a way to purchase an extended warranty after the fact, and I'm looking into that for you now.
With this link:

It seems that even using an item number from a valid listing (one that gives me the option to purchase the warranty) doesn't even show up.
Now my understanding of this is that you need to have purchased that item in order for the item number to pop the option, but so far, it has not worked for anything I have tried, but not sure if any of my recent purchases qualified for a warranty in the first place.
Your other option is to call the Allstate Warranty claim number and see if they have a way to manually set you up an extended warranty. Use that link above and there is a number listed for them.
