AI tool ignores countefeit items! WTH??? Item 146386862056 FAKE, seller even admitted it
Summary: The discussion is centered around an AI tool that reportedly ignores counterfeit items, as described by gardog777. gardog777 is particularly frustrated with a specific item, 146386862056, which they claim to be fake, and even the seller has admitted it. lady_madonna and gosimus respond to the initial post, but the content of their responses is marked as 'None.' gosimus's reply leads to a follow-up from gardog777, who receives a further response from tenbigdogs. The nature of these additional interactions is also marked as 'None.'
I submitted a complaint and within one hour received a reply that eBay automated assistant determined the item is ok. Basically saying eBay is ok selling counterfeit products. I bet US courts would strongly disagree! Here's eBay reply to me:
"We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence.
If you reported content that isn’t listed below, we’ll send a separate email once we’ve made a decision.
Here are the listings you reported that are included in this decision:
Item: 146386862056 1PCS Brand New H7ECBLM Omron H7EC-BLM Counter Spot commodity Fast Ship"
BOOOOSH!T
Thank you for being part of the eBay community.

No, you're misreading the reply. You quoted it, but you're not grasping the distinction. "We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy." The listing can be perfectly fine; in fact, many, if not most, of them are. The deception doesn't become evident until the buyer receives the fake item.

OP4 months agoSo let's all be lawyers here. Seriously? You're implying that they've never sold one of these counterfeit items. What will eBay do to trace their sales then, and shut them down? That attitude is not acceptable. But it's your choice - continue operating in the margins, using legalese and perish, or make things right and continue to prosper.
To be more clear about this, I contacted the seller prior to ordering (because they appeared fake). Here's the seller's reply to me:
"Hello, dear friend I'm very sorry. Our product is made in China. It has only some minor differences in appearance compared to the original one. It has the Omron logo on it, and the functions are the same. The price is also very reasonable. Could you please accept this?Waiting for your reply. Thank you."
THAT too is OK????
So I've just reported this matter to the FTC. I hope they investigate eBay's bad business practices and force you to correct them! For all the "protection" you provide buyers, this is one area that you fall flat! BOOOOO

Mentor4 months agoHi @gardog777 eBay is a private Membership Organization. When eBay allowed you to join, it was after you agreed to its Policies, Rules & Regulations. You might want to refresh yourself about what you agreed to. If you don't like eBay's Policies, Rules & Regulations, your option is to give up your membership. Sorry, there's no way to explain these things without legalese, since your eBay Membership is a legal Agreement.
As to your specific issue, you've been provided the answer two different ways and still don't seem to understand that eBay does not rely on individual members such as yourself to police its listings. In this case, the seller said straight out that it was an after-market replacement. There have been many instances when such items have worked out perfectly. Particularly for car parts when the original maker has discontinued the item.
There is nothing to report to the FCC. But you can try your hand at it if you want just as many have threatened before you. Good luck!

Mentor4 months agoEbay is not ok with sellers selling counterfeits. Ebay has no way of physically determining that the item is not authentic.
Did you provide proof when you reported the item?
If a buyer receives the counterfeit item, they are covered by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee whereby they can file a Return Request for a full refund.
