After successfully bidding earlier , I can't bid now - how do I get back to normal?

I successfully submitted a bid for an item but when I attempted to bid on a second item, it wouldn't take the bid - and I can't make any other bids. There is no explanation I can see that would explain this. Any ideas?

What error message are you getting when you try, or if no error message what circumstances lead you to your conclusion that you are unable to bid: what page are you on, what blanks do you fill and what links do you click, what happens next vs. what did you expect to happen?
