Trying to find a shipping address of an ebayer who wants to purchase an item but i need to get a price for shipping before I sell this item

OP11 months agoI did notice the city and state but USPS wont allow me to get a shipping cost if there is no address. I decided to turn down the offer and sent him a message that i would consider a lower sale price if he sends me a address, which should work if EBay will allow it.

Mentor11 months ago@robmo_36 You just need to use the eBay shipping calculator NOT the USPS site.
All you need to do is ask the buyer for their zip code. You are allowed to ask for that. Then you can look up shipping costs on this page>

You enter your ship from ZIP and the buyers ZIP then it tells you the price to ship to the buyers location.

Even the USPS website postage calculator only requires zip code entries, no street address is needed.
Was someone at USPS telling you that, I'm curious where that came from.

Mentor11 months agoMake sure the sale goes through eBay. You are sounding like you are trying to sell outside of eBay. The address will be shown to you once the buyer pays. If you set up the listing with calculated shipping, it will be figured out for you.

OP11 months agoI am not trying to go around Ebay. It would make no sense since I would have no way to get paid for the item.
I guess I did not explain the issue I'm having.
I have an item listed with free shipping. The customer is giving me a lower offer. I want to make sure I don't take a loss on the sale if I except the offer. The only way I can factor in the shipping is to know the ship too address .

Your shipping charges should be shown on the listing page when the potential buyer views the listing. No need to find out their shipping address.

Side note>>
I noticed that you have Freight on some of your items.
I do recommend NOT using Freight shipping unless you are willing to pay return freight and refund buyers for not as described returns. I would list as Local Pick Up only with a note in the description that says buyer can arrange their own freight. Then you get the pick up code before the shipping company takes the item and enter it on to the sold listing as proof of delivery.

If they are using the "Best Offer" option to make an offer, when you click "Respond to offer" from your Active listings the buyer's City/State/Zip are shown there in the offer box. You can back out if you're not ready to respond yet.
You may also want to confirm with the buyer first that the city/zip shown is where it will actually ship to, as they can change that during checkout.
