eBay is not accepting my address for a purchase I just made ( I've made hundreds over the last 20+ years). It thinks it's a PO Box, but it's not.

OP8 months agoThe thing that gets me is that my address does not say Post Office Box, or PO Box. Funny thing is, when I edited it to Postoffice Rd, it suggested my correct address!

Mentor8 months agoLikely the suggested address is coming from the USPS itself, so it is not too surprising that it suggests your actual address; the PO Box exclusion is something separate that eBay is doing. Obviously USPS has no trouble delivering to your real address.

OP8 months ago" Shipper does not ship to a PO Box". My address is on May Post Office Rd., not Post Office Box. eBay's AI can't tell the difference apparently. I changed it to Postoffice Rd ( which it then tells me it doesn't match Postal records), but it finally accepted it.

Oh, that is almost certainly the exact problem, except I don't think eBay is using AI for that -- probably just a simple script that looks for the phrase "Post Office" or "PO Box" or something similar.
It might be worth trying using an alternative address such as "May P0st 0ffice Road" with zeros for "O"s to see if that works any better. I wonder if USPS would still deliver if it said "May Pcst Office Road" or "May Pst Office Road". Probably.

OP8 months agoI've used my exact address for hundreds of purchases. First time eBay ever gave me a problem with it.

Mentor8 months agoThat may have been the first time you have run into a seller that excluded PO Boxes; or possibly eBay has changed the way such things are detected.
