Additional shipping charges after the transaction has closed
Why would any additional shipping charges be levied by the carrier a number of days after package successfully delivered, when the eBay Buyer interface allows Buyer to prepay shipping? The additional shipping charges are 4 times the shipping quote from the eBay Buyer, where Buyer prepaid shipping. How is both the amount of additional charge and the process protested?!

·2 years agoThere are several things that could be happening, and with the limited information you provided, all we can do is speculate.
1) who was the carrier? If UPS or FedEx, they are notorious for adding surcharges after the fact. Actually, many sellers now won’t use either carrier, as they are so well known for pulling that. If USPS, that’s a bit different.
2) USPS always is dependent on precise weight and dimensions. If either is slightly over on either weight or dimensions, you must round up. Larger packages with them are subject to dimensional weight. Meaning, if you’ve got two packages of equal weight, but one of them has larger dimensions than fall into normal for that weight, the dimensions will kick it up to a higher cost category.
