Additional import fees charged when included with checkout
I purchased an item located in the UAE that was listed as shipping with eBay SpeedPAK Economy, specified that "Includes import fees. Import fees are included in shipping and item price. You won't have to pay anything after checkout."
I have now received messages from DHL saying that I have import duty fees to pay and a message from the seller saying that if the fees are not paid that the item will be disposed and I will not receive a refund. This seems very misleading and I don't know what to do. As I understood, the price I paid included the fees I'm being asked to pay now. I intentionally selected the item I did over ones that specified that import fees were not included to avoid this. What happened to the extra that I paid for that was included in my checkout costs, and is there anything I can do to resolve other than just paying the extra? I don't want to fault the seller if the seller is not at fault but also don't like the idea of extra that I paid being pocketed while I still have to pay the rest.
