Adding a Gift Card to my Account

Question

I just bought a Visa Gift card and my account will not allow me to add it to my payment methods. It keeps saying, "We couldn't verify this card. Please provide a different card."... I tried numerous times and verified that all the information was correct. Plus, of course, I made sure the card is active.

Many users have been complaining about having problems using such cards on eBay starting in July of this year. It is not clear if this is a technical issue or the result of a policy change, and as far as I know, eBay has not said anything one way or the other.

You may want to make your eBay purchase using a different payment method and use the Vanilla card in an actual brick and mortar store.
