Account Suspended Over Ebay Being Stupid
Summary: mcxn93 shared their experience of having an account suspended on eBay despite successful sales totaling almost $2000 and positive ratings. They were asked to verify their account multiple times and complied, yet their payments were put on hold, and eventually, their account was suspended without recourse. They are frustrated that eBay plans to hold $549.38 for 180 days, despite previously accepting their bank information. mcxn93 expressed disappointment and reluctance to use the platform again.
Started selling on EBAY about a month ago. Made great sales totaling almost $2000. One payment was for $900 and change right to my bank. Perfect! No problems! Fast shipper. Great seller. Great ratings! No outstanding sales or payments! Everything is fine then EBAY starts asking for my bank statements. I forward the statements. I actually chat with a real human and they tell me that my account needs to be verified. I go through this crazy process about six times. I keep getting the red warning banner saying payments are on hold. WTF? I currently have $549.38 being held by EBAY for no good reason! Now I find out yesterday that my account with EBAY is permanently suspended. WTF again! So I get EBAY to give me a call and I speak to a living breathing human. They say my account is permanently suspended and there is nothing EBAY or I can do about it. Then he tells me that my $549.38 will be released to my bank on March 13, 2027.....180 days? So I am being penalized for doing the right thing and after 180 days EBAY is going to release the $549.38 to the same bank they wanted more information about. Am I missing something here? I will never sell another thing on this corrupt auction site. Anyone else have the same warm and fuzzy experience!

Because eBay is a federally-regulated payment processor, the are legally required to follow Anti-Money Laundering laws and the U.S. Patriot Act.
If information you provided repeatedly doesn't match, it triggers a Security Alert that can shut down your account.
During this process, eBay sends increasingly aggressive messages warning of a suspension.
Holding your funds for 180 days is also part of the process.
