Account Restriction: Years Later
So since my last cry for help I've dumped quite a bit of money into items on this platform, secretly hoping to clear the original mess up.
For reference, here is a link to my original post in August of 2021 as an ebay newbie with many things to learn.
Today, upon navigating to the ebay customer service homepage (https://www.ebay.com/help/home), I am greeted with this little anomaly:
It reads:
"We've restricted your account from bidding on items or making offers because we've seen activity that doesn't follow our policies. You can still buy items on eBay if you use Buy It Now and pay promptly."
I'm a bit confused and before heading into the "Contact Us" can of worms I figured I'd give a little insight and what I think it could be, and maybe get some insight in return. eBay has obviously placed this restriction on me for something, but whether they made the right call appears to be up for debate. I've had multiple instances where a seller sends me an offer a few hours after viewing their item. Unfortunately due to these restrictions I've missed out on quite a few good deals over the years, receiving a similar "error" message and not allowing me to accept the seller's offer, which I think is a little unfair for both parties involved.
The only thing I can think of responsible for this message is a purchase I made back in December 2021-a few months later than my original post- through the local pickup option. My understanding is that you're allowed to coordinate a meetup so long as you don't mention your full residential address. So a public meeting place was decided and the transaction was carried out with no issues.
I'll be contacting ebay regardless but I figured I'd see if the community had any information or similar experiences with something like this, or if any former restricted accountholders could tell me the correct steps I need to take. Am I still too new to be trusted in auctions or offer-making?
If anybody has any inkling of why I could possibly have an account restriction still, I'm all ears.

Mentor8 months agoHi @a-matter-of-fax
I have made numerous LPU (Local pick up) sales over the years and eBay always allowed personal contact information to be exchanged between Buyer and Seller in eBay messaging. I typically just shared the local convenience store location I do the LPUs at and then my cell number in case the customer had to change the day and time after the initial set up.
I think your account issue may revolve around items that were not paid for. It may have happened without you noticing it, say auctions you won or accepted offers that were never paid for. Who knows.
In any event, it might be best to reach out to eBay via Social Media opposed to trying to get them to call you back, that feature is a hit or miss to be honest.
