Account hacked/False Charge
Summary: dougntubss reported receiving a spoofed email that led to an unauthorized $50 charge on their bank account, which was later reversed. They mistakenly believed they owed eBay for shipping, but realized it was a scam and retracted the payment. Despite this, eBay claims they owe $50 for a non-existent 40-pound package. Attempts to resolve the issue with eBay's customer service have been unsuccessful, and dougntubss criticized the company's support process.
I received a spoofed email on and item I sold. The email said I owe more money for shipping.
The amount was $50, as the item was high priced I paid the $50 for shipping.
I relized later that the email was a spoof on my account.
My bank account had been an unauthorized charged , the bank reversed the charge.
I had paid eBay the $50, but removed it as soon as I saw my mistake.
eBay say I owe them $50 for shipping on a 40 pound package I did not ship nor did I receive a shipping label for 40 pounds
The email vaporized soon after I paid what I thought was a legitamit invoice, but I did get a copy of the bogus label Tracking number.
That tracking number was the same number as the item I had actually shiped to the buyer weighing 8 pounds.
FEDEX DOES NOT USED THE SAME TRACKING NUMBER FOR SHIPPING MULTIPLE SEPARATE ITEMS.
i found no shipping label for $50 or 40 pounds LABEL on te FEDEX site, only the item I shipped to a buyer.
Now eBay says i owe $50 for shipping a package/item I did not list or sell or ship.
I have been trying to talk to customer srvice, but when the few times I contacted by PHONE, they hung up on me instantly.

this is what I think happened
1) You shipped your package using FedEx
2) FedEx determined that the label wasn't enough postage due to the dimensions,
3) FedEx billed eBay $50 and eBay billed you (this is normal)
4) You filed a chargeback on eBay's charge
5) You owe eBay $50
This is why there is 1 tracking number for your original shipment and the '40 lb' shipment.
All shippers, including Fedex, bill by "dimensional weight". That means they bill by the volume more so than by actual weight.
You might have a package that's 18x18x17 that weighs 2 lbs.
Fedex will bill you for the 40 lb rate because it's similar in size to something that should weigh 40 lbs.
You can read here about Dimensional Weight
https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/packaging/what-is-dimensional-weight.html
It is always possible that Fedex is incorrect, and there is a process to appeal through eBay, but the time for that is passed.
Look at eBay emails or messages. Your eBay message box goes back at least 1 year if you don't delete the messages. (check archived messages, too)
