Accidentally cancelled a shipping label but the item was dropped off at USPS
I had two items I was shipping on Ebay. I was supposed to cancel one of the shipping labels (the UPS one) since I forgot to add one piece to the now 7 lb shipment. Instead, I accidentally cancelled the other package's label. I will call that the 2 lb shipment for sake of ease. I had already dropped that one off at USPS shortly before I cancelled the label, but it had not scanned yet. USPS said the item will likely continue on its journey and get to the customer, but I am concerned since I asked for a cancellation of the label before it scanned at USPS. Is there any way for me to reverse the cancellation request on that package? And if not, will there be trouble with the delivery and/or charge for the shipping?

USPS takes up to 4 weeks to provide a refund for a cancelled shipping label … presumably to ensure the label hasn’t been used. Hopefully, they’ll just skip the refund and allow the package to reach its destination.
Don’t forget to cancel the UPS label if you haven’t used it!

Mentor5 months agoWhen it gets scanned that essentially will cancel the request on that label since a used label is not able to be voided.

Watch the tracking on both USPS and eBay and see what happens. There is no way to Un-cancel a cancelled label BUT, who knows if tracking might trigger USPS to NOT credit you for the label cost and ultimately update tracking through their system.
Monitor the tracking ... worse case if eBay shows NO delivery confirmation and the Buyer files a claim that they did not receive their package then you will have to refund through the claim whether the Buyer is being honest or not.
Your funds may be placed on hold for up to 31 days if eBay does not record and process the cancelled label's tracking information.

OP5 months agoThanks so much for your reply. I will watch to see what happens with USPS with the tracking. Hopefully it will start showing in the USPS system as tracking, get to its destination; and the label cancellation is just not credited.
Do you know how long it will take for refund of the label I did eventually cancel on the package I originally meant to cancel and rebuy. That was was for the 7lb package.
