Accepted offer?

Question

I just made an offer on an item, seller accepted my offer, I paid them immediately. Then I see a message from the seller saying he wants to cancel out order because he received a better offer, from another Ebayer.

I emailed seller, and told him so sorry, but I did not see the message until after I had paid. I really do want the item, but apparently he had a change of heart on my offer. Can he cancel after the fact? What should I do now?

The seller was obligated to complete the sale with you. If he cancels, he'll have to use the reason "out of stock or damaged" in which case he'll receive a well-deserved defect on his account. If he misrepresents the reason for the cancellation, you can report him here:

1. Select The seller has violated one of eBayâ€™s policies and click Continue.
2. On the next page, enter the seller's ID and select Other.
3. In the comment section, write "In order to avoid a defect, seller cancelled order stating that I requested the cancellation ."

If he doesn't cancel and it's past the estimated delivery date shown in your Purchase History, you have 30 days to use the option next to the transaction to open a case for an item not received. The seller will have 3 business days to prove delivery or refund. If he doesn't, go back to the case on day 4 and use the option to ask eBay to step in. They will force the refund.
