A seller is using my home address as their product returns address
I cannot work out why the seller is doing this. I end up receiving items that genuine buyers have returned to this seller as he is giving them my address. Even more disturbingly his ebay name is a shortened composite of my real name. Needless to say the returned items I receive are worthless Chinese tat and I throw them away.
After wading through loads of posts about fake return address scams (which is not my problem) I came across this post which seems very similar: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Ask-a-Mentor/someone-is-using-my-home-address-as-their-product-returns/m-p/33402144#M322133
I reported it to ebay (spoke to 2 real people!) they just said they will deal with it. They would not tell me the seller id but I managed to work it out. They did not explain why the seller is doing this.
The seller claims to be UK based but all his items are Chinese fakes, generally toys. All the photos he uses are stock ones so no clue as to his identity there. He has sold very few items. I have never bought from him.
Can anyone explain the scam and do I need to be worried?
