A buyer has committed fraud, yet Ebay can't even connect me with a human to help. What do I do?
I sent a buyer the wrong item. Yes, my fault, but the buyer has acknowledged that he has the wrong item and initially requested a return. At the same time as requesting a return, he offered to buy both the item that was sent in error as well as the originally purchased item. Upon issuing the return ticket, he immediately closed it, which closed the case from Ebay's perspective. He then cut communications and is still in possession of the wrong item which is valued at 3x the item purchased.
Of course this is my error, but the buyer, in my view, is knowingly misusing the Ebay return system to automate closing the case. Ebay won't even connect me with a human as they don't show an open case. Any suggestions?

Mentor2 years agoHe didn’t need to close the case - he could just let it time out. He didn't need to open the return in the first place. Unfortunately, there is nothing eBay can do to make the buyer return the wrong item. You can ask customer service, but I think they will tell you that there is nothing to be done.
The easiest way to do this is to post a private message on social media. www.facebook.com/ebay www.twitter.com/ebay
To speak to customer service, use the link on the left side of this page “have us call you†- https://www.ebay.com/help/contact_us?id=4002&st=10
If you don't see 'have us call you' right under the chat link, click chat. Then at the bottom of the chat topics, click more, then click contact an agent.
