A buyer did not pay and wants to cancel his purchase. Do I have to wait 5 days to do this?

You have choices here:

-If you wait 4 days (to the minute) and Cancel you can use the reason "Buyer hasn't paid", that way they get an Unpaid item strike on their account and if the get 2 they will have trouble buying on eBay.

-Since the Buyer messaged you asking to cancel you can do that and not wait the 4 days, use the Reason "Buyer requested ..." ... no penalty doing this.

-If you think they may buy from you in the future you can go with the 2nd option. If you go with the first option just message them and let them know what day the Cancellation will be processed, you don't have to explain anything further. Then add them to your blocked list (Buyer Management | eBay) and then use the Report Buyer link on the Sold item to alert eBay of an issue.

I honor cancellation requests and canceled bid requests PRIOR to a purchase (or auction ending). I extend paymenttime beyond 4 days if Buyers message me asking for more time to pay. I cancel in 4 days and give Buyers the Unpaid item strike if I hear nothing from them ... and I DON'T bother them with messages about paying.
