$60 FEE for A $750.00 item What a crock.
I find it thoroughly disgraceful, greedy and extremely irritating that this EBay charges not only an exceptionally high listing fee but has the ordasity to charge your credit card before the item is anywhere near sold. Thank you.

·3 years agoWhen you use a reserve, it doesn't matter if the item sells or not, they'll collect their fee for using it.

OP3 years agoKen, what is the most financial efficient way to sell a product on eBay…..
Reserve - Buy it now - Regular action no reserve..I am a new boy at SELLING…

·3 years agoStill a question. Did you select the auto-relist option (if available) when you created your listing?
If so, the reserve price will be relisted too. Probably.

If you have no clue I suggest to revise the listing and remove the reserve price. It's useless anyway, although you have to pay for it. You're better of without it.
Good luck.

Mentor3 years agoIt is fine to use auction, just don't set a reserve price. As you found out, you are charged up front, every time, whether or not it sells. Right before you hit list it (blue box), the price was there. You could have revised it before hitting list it and not incurred the fee.
My listings are a mix of auctions and buy it now. I never use reserve and have never incurred a fee for listing. I don't use any upgrades or promotions. Every time I hit list it, it says list if for free. I set my auction price at the lowest price I would accept if one bid wins the item.

Mentor3 years agoHi @netjets1
I just checked the listing and @twinkling.smile is correct. When using the Auction format the starting price needs to be high enough that if one bid wins the auction you make your profit, more bids means more profit and the Reserve price fee is charged every time the item is listed or Relisted.
I sell a lot Auction style and some of my items start in the hundreds.
That is a nice piece by the way, did you do Sold research to see what similar ones have sold for?
Is there a manufacturer listed on your piece? I saw an RCA unit sold for around $ 329 ...

OP3 years agoThank you Mr L.

Mentor3 years ago@netjets1 It's an awesome piece ... I refinished my grandparents' Kolster Model K-20 Radio Receiver Case a number of years ago, nobody wants it LOL but I love having it up ... put the following number in the eBay Search window and you will go right too it. 334809141627 ... I figure YOU at least would appreciate it!!!
As to how to sell best, a lot depends on category. I sell a lot Auction style but my starting price is determined the same way I determine a Buy it now price. That way a one bid sale makes my profit, more bids mean more profit. So, in basic terms an auction selling in 7 days on one bid is no different than a Buy it now listing selling 7 days after I list it.
You have a rare item, however, the market is small for that type of item would be my guess.
Rarity means trying to sell Auction style ...

The reserve price, once you chose it, you must pay for it. While your bidders dislike such a reserve. It's better to raise your starting price, clear for everybody.
Shipping is $90. That is much more than $60.

OP3 years agoThank you, but pray tell, What does the shipping cost have to do with the listing charge ?
