4 months ago I returned an item to the seller. The package was not claimed on his end .
What is my obligation to merchandise not claimed by the seller. Furthermore seller wants me to resend.

If you had opened a return request and asked for help while it was open, eBay would have considered it delivered and refunded your payment. Waiting 4 months has cost you the ability to ask eBay for assistance.
You can try contacting your credit card issuer for assistance - most cards can help for 90 - 180 days, so do not wait any longer.
