30-40% of listings don't show up in ebay's search engine
CHECK YOUR LISTINGS!!!! Many may not be showing up on eBay's search engine and they need to fix this.
I've noticed over the past few months that many of my listings don't show up when using the eBay search engine. I have over 5,000 listings. Some of these are nude artworks and others are just regular artworks. ALL nude listings do not show up and yes they are listed properly (I know the policies front to back). Anything that has the subject attribute "Nude" does not show up using the eBay search bar.
You can search them any manner of ways and they will not show up. Customer support said they'd out through a service ticket to the IT department which would be looked at in 48-72 hours, but not likely to be resolved in less than 30 days.
I know Nudes have always been a contentious category, so I decided to see if my other listings were showing up in eBay's search engine and found that many are not.
I searched for a specific artist I have 93 listings for currently. When I go to my store icon and search within my store, all 93 listings show up. When I search using the exact same search term (the artist's name) using eBay's search engine, only 72 show up. The listings have been up for weeks.
I've seen similar posts on the eBay community dating back to 2011 where listings are shadow-banned for no apparent reason, or the algorithm just doesn't included them in search, or glitches with the search engine, or some sort of bias in the system.
My question is: Is there anything I can do to fix this? (Relisting does not work).
Or is this just an effort in futility and just part of dealing with the inherent flaws of eBay's system?

Mentor3 years ago@castle_gallery When they rolled out the GTC mandate (a while ago) I went through a period of time where the vast majority of my sales came from my Auction listings ... I am seeing that trend again now. No GTC / BIN sales since Thursday last week and weekends are the busiest sales time for what I sell ... the only sales this weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun) have been auction listings.

I've been thinking about listing as auctions again, in addition to the fixed listings. I did recently put up 3 auctions, though they were nude artwork listings......the only views I have on them are from myself; but perhaps landscapes and abstracts and such will fair better.
I've also read about a Cassini update that eBay has been rolling out for a while that many people comment on as highly problematic and basically a case of "fixing" something that wasn't really "broken" to begin with. Does anyone have extra knowledge on this update?

·3 years agoI don't remember reading anything that said they guarantee your items would show up in searches.
The search engine has been messed up for awhile.
Until they fix it and give everyone a fair chance, not much we can do.
Usually when I want to find something on Ebay, I do a search through Google.

Isn't it kind of a given, that if you post something on eBay, at the very least it should be able to be found? I understand that if an item is not popular, the algorithm can kick it to the bottom of a search, but it can still be found. 30-40% of my listings don't show up at all. That's numbering into 1,500+ listings.
That's true that you can find your listings through a google search, and you and I may know that, but I'm assuming many eBay shoppers come straight to eBay to look for the items they want to purchase and then use the eBay search bar.
I've been on eBay 20 years now, and only in the past 3-6 months have I noticed signficant problems with the site such as listings not being accessible through the search engine.
