16 days waiting
I ordered a small iron on patch on 10/24 and after a week I contacted the seller inquiring if it shipped because the status still just said ordered.
Seller was vague and just said they would send another one out without confirming if the original was shipped.
I replied back saying I didn't want a replacement but wanted to know if the original was ever shipped out.
I received no reply from that inquiry. Then on 11/1 status finally showed a tracking number but has simply said "origin processing" since then.
It's now 11/9 and it still says "origin processing" and I opened a case with eBay, but they responded that the case will remain on hold until 11/18.
All this for a tiny iron on patch that can literally be placed in an envelope and mailed with a postage stamp and dropping the mailbox.
This is usually how I receive them. At this point I just want a refund and if this patch ever appears I want to return it for my money back on principle because it's unacceptable to wait 16 days and counting for a small item like this. Will I be able to get my refund and send it back if it ever comes?
In 17 years I've never had such a negative experience purchasing on eBay.
I live in FL and the patch is shipped from CA so it's not like I'm in another country.

If the seller does not respond to the case after 3 days from the date you filed it have passed, you can ask Ebay to step in to help you.

Mentor1 year ago@chris330r You will have to ask eBay to step in on the 18th.
Sellers can have handling times of 0 to 40 days. They just have to make sure that the item arrives by the last estimated delivery date stated on the listing.
The tracking is for the sellers protection to prove delivery. You are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
Sorry your purchase didn't go smoothly. Here's how to get your money back.
Look for the last estimated delivery date in your purchase history. You can file a refund request when the item is at least a day late. If tracking shows movement I recommend waiting a week or so for postal service delays.
You have 30 days from the last estimated delivery date to file a refund request on eBay.
Select your item on this page to start a refund request:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/get-help-item-hasnt-arrived?id=4042&st=
4 business days after you file the refund request ask eBay to step in and help if the seller has not refunded you.
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701
If it is more than 30 days past the last estimated delivery date then you can file a refund request on PayPal up to 180 days from the date of purchase. OR if you didn't use PayPal at checkout contact your bank or credit card to report that you didn't receive the item.

OP1 year agoI appreciate the helpful information. The last estimated delivery date was 11/2 so I opened the case on 11/3 but the next day eBay said they were placing the case on hold until the 18th. This was most likely because the seller put the tracking number in on 11/1 and most likely told eBay they shipped it.
But since 11/1 it's only been saying "origin processing" with no movement.
So I guess I'll just wait until the 18th to request the refund and if it ever does arrive I will send it back.
Thank you again for your help.

Just FYI, depending on the seller's return policy, you may not be able to file a Return Request unless you have a valid reason under the Ebay Money Back Guarantee.

Mentor1 year ago@chris330r. If the seller issues a refund you are not any under any obligation to return the item If it finally does arrive.
If the seller wants the item back after issuing a refund then they need to send you the money to pay return shipping for it prior to sending it back.
