14k marked necklace indicated to
I had a 14k gold necklace purchased and sent to authenticity guarantee and this was their response:
“I verified that your item is authentic. However, the item's condition doesn't match the listing description. Issues found during inspection include:
- Type of metal does not match the listing. Item can be relisted but ensure it is accurately described in the listing.â€
All I indicated in the description was “gold link chain 14k necklaceâ€.
I am not a jewelry expert….what does this authentication fail mean???

OP8 months agoI finally got ahold of ebay authenticator. First, let me qualify that I am NOT a jewelry person/expert. I assumed when the clasp was stamped 14k Italy that it was a 14k gold necklace. The evaluation determined that the necklace was gold “covered†or plated with base metals despite the 14k stamp. I did not even know this was possible….learned something new.

Mentor8 months agoIn looking at the actual listing the only thing that I could see them referring to is that you listed the metal as "Yellow Gold". Apparently the authenticator did not like this metal description. Unfortunately, I would probably have used the same description so I have no idea what they may want in this specification.
