My first thought was, well, you must have had fewer than 200 transactions.
But then I read,
"I see a copy og my 1099K but it doesnt add up ?"
If you can see a copy of a Form 1099-K, for 2025, issued by eBay, that most likely means eBay has issued it. And if eBay has issued a Form 1099-K for 2025 to you, that means you earned at least $25,000 in gross earnings and had at least 200 eBay transactions during 2025
eBay's default delivery of Forms 1099-K is electronic. eBay will not send -- mail -- your 1099-K form to you through the US Postal System unless you have specifically requested that kind of delivery.
The amount eBay is required to report to the IRS, via Form 1099-K, is gross earnings. Gross earnings include not only the item prices of things you've sold but also any shipping costs that your buyers paid. (Sales taxes paid by your buyers are not included in the 1099-K amounts reported.) If you've made refunds after the eBay transactions were complete, those refunded amounts are also included in the gross earnings.

OP6 months agoI didnt receive it by mail as I have in the past, just a download and the form has 155 lines but no totals just sales by each line. Thanks, Jim Haney

Mentor6 months agoThat doesn't exactly sound like a Form 1099-K in the IRS' rectangular format. Especially not with "155 lines."
Are there actually, truly, 155 lines of info, or did you just type "155" as an exaggeration, for emphasis?
The title of Form 1099-K is "Payment Card and Third Party Network Transactions."
My selling ID has never made enough to receive a Form 1099-K from eBay. However, examples of that form that I have googled show, in Box 1a, one total of gross amount of payment card/third party network transactions.
Then there are 12 additional boxes, labeled 5a through 5l, which break that total gross amount into your monthly sales: January in Box 5a, February in Box 5b, and so on.
It seems reasonable to assume that the total of the 12 monthly amounts equals the gross amount reported in Box 1a.
Never having received a Form 1099-K from eBay, I wonder if what eBay makes available to sellers (like you, OP), is a line-by-line listing of all the "stuff" that is on that form. That might account for "155 lines" of information, considering all the info that could possibly be reported on Form 1099-K.
If that's the case, I would assume that it was less expensive for eBay to give 1099-K info to sellers in that format, as opposed to creating a rectangular form that is separated into a bunch of boxes.

Mentor6 months agoCan you please clarify? You said you have not received the 1099K but then you say you can see it.
Find the tax form here:
https://www.ebay.com/mes/transaction-reports?q=1099-k
or here:
https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin/taxforms
Even if you do not receive a 1099-K form, you do need to report your ebay sales, but they can be offset with expenses incurred (listing fees, shipping supplies, postage expenses, etc).
