Wooden Mace--Real or Replica?
I purchased this Wooden Mace at an estate sale. They claimed it was a rare antique. How can I tell if it is a real antique or a modern replica? The head and the handle are two pieces of wood, which gives me a feeling that it is a replica. I am clueless about antiques. It's still a beautiful piece, but I'd really like to know.

·2 years agoI can't imagine a baby rattle covered with sharp pointy things. 😅

·2 years agoThe piece shows none of the wear or patina you'd expect on an antique. Plus I don't know why anyone would make a lightweight wooden mace. They're a weapon and are typically made of heavy metal.

·2 years agoProbably just a decorative piece. But it's nice though. Is the ball heavy?

OP2 years agoWell, not really. The whole thing weights about a pound.
