Record player from 1900s price?
I have a friend that has a record player from the 1900s. Looking for a recommendation on price and where I can maybe find more details for the listing. Also how do I sell it without getting into a situation where someone says they never received it and I'm out the money and the record player. Any suggestions on that?

·3 months agoPlenty currently on sale - search for “Edison standard phonograph.” Big range of pricing. The one that you have looks incomplete and in rough shape. Seems like $250-$300 all in.

Your much bigger concern is how to pack and ship such a heavy and fragile item. It can be done, but it will take a lot of packing material and I would definitely pay extra for postage insurance.
As for how much your phonograph might be worth, have you tried here yet?

I'll be honest.
eBay might not be the best place to sell an item like that. If anything, I would stick to pickup only, no shipping. Or sell it locally, or list it on Facebook market place.
Too easy for this to get damaged in shipping, or something else go wrong with the listing. Not to mention the shipping costs could be higher than you expect. Just not worth the risk in my opinion.
If you proceed anyway, do your diligence and research eBay polices and shipping methods thoroughly before committing to listing it.
It should be noted, this is not a record player. This looks to be using cylindrical wax recording sleeves that go on the tube under the needle. Very old, very delicate. Lot of fragile items here and it looks like you have several recordings.
Not something I would list here myself, and it could be worth a lot to the right collector.
Good luck, either way! Nice item!
