I think this is a mourning item . don't know how to describe it
4" x 4 1/2" Clear rhinestones and red ones. NRI cross in center. Not a pin. Was on this cardboard felt board. On the back is written as you can see. I looked up the name and she died in 1938 and was famous. I was hoping you could tell me how to describe this and any information would be great. thank you in advance.

·1 year agoIt's not a mourning brooch. It is simply a Catholic religous pin. INRI across the top of all Catholic crucifixes. Worn by ladies to Mass. Has nothing to do with death.

The letters are INRI (Latin for Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews).
I don’t believe your Mary Bamber is the same, as the month is off. Also, I tried to make a Bernard Shaw/Mary Bamber connection via Ancestry.com and Google but came up with zippo.
Regardless, great piece. I would simply state what you have: (size) Gold Tone Metal and Rhinestone (red & white) Mourning Brooch (pin is broken), with ¿material? INRI Crucifix in center.

·2 years agoNot only is that a really cool looking piece, the history of her is pretty awesome. Personally i would lean heavily into the History and Person more than the item. Maybe Google Lens it to find out if it was something the church presented to them after her last rites (last rite pendant). Love items like this that when you research you end up finding out so much more about the person/item.
