Antique / Vintage Dressing Table with Mirror - Need info and opinions
We recently moved my parents to assisted living and have an old dressing table that was my great-grandmother's. Somebody along the line began stripping the green paint of of the table and parts of the mirror, but we have all the parts and hardware. Does anybody know anything about such a table and/or if it's sellable as is to someone that might want to refinish it and give it a good home. It's truly a work of art but we simply have no use for it.

·1 year agoThere's no way to even begin to assess value without photos. Just from your description I'm guessing it may be from the 1920s, if the paint is original. Painting furniture wasn't popular before then, and green was a popular color for furniture in the 1920s.
The sad truth is that you can't give away a great many antiques now. I belong to several antique furniture FB groups, and people are constantly posting pictures of lovely pieces they found tossed at the side of the road.

·1 year agoLocal pick up is probably the way to go.
I would take a few pictures to a furniture refinishing shop, assuming there are still some in business.
They may know of someone that would be interested in purchasing.
If this belonged to your great grandmother it may be worth some money.
My father would rescue furniture my mother brought home. He did beautiful work. RIP

·1 year agoDepends on when the furniture was manufactured. Stuff my parents had that’s 60 - 70 years old isn’t worth much, but stuff from my dad’s grandparents that was manufactured in the 1870’s does have some value.
