Does anyone know what this is? Looks like a tool for reaching out and pulling in a rope

It's 14 1/2 inches long and only weighs 3oz It seems to be hollow iron Why hollow? Probably so it can float if dropped by accident It attracts a magnet It has springs riveted to the ends

·3 weeks agoLooks like a vintage Canvas Awning Rafter Rod - Without the spring tabs, a strong upward gust of wind could lift the awning fabric, cause the rod to go slack, and allow the hook to slip out of its mounting eyelets.
Used on mid-20th-century residential window awnings, commercial storefront awnings, and vintage camper/trailer awnings to hold the fabric taut.
More than likely it is thin walled tubular steel, if dropped in water it will sink.
