Over the coming weeks, we’re rolling out Authenticity Guarantee for eligible coins $500 and above listed on ebay.com. Since this service will ramp up over several weeks, your coins may not immediately be eligible for authentication.

Coins is a category built on trust. Authenticity, condition, grading, and listing accuracy all play an important role in buyer confidence and final value. Authenticity Guarantee is designed to drive velocity in high-value coins by helping buyers purchase with more confidence and backing sellers with enhanced post-authentication protections. Importantly, eBay will cover the cost of authentication.
How Authenticity Guarantee works
When you list an eligible coin (or sell one via auction or eBay Live), the blue Authenticity Guarantee badge will appear on the listing.
Once the item sells, you’ll ship the coin to the authentication facility.
From there, our partner team of numismatists and coin experts conduct a multi-point inspection to verify the coin’s authenticity and confirm that it matches the listing.
Once authenticated, the coin will be securely packed and shipped to the buyer with tracked delivery.
Coins are not graded nor re-graded as part of the authentication process.
What will be eligible
Authenticity Guarantee is available for single graded U.S. and World coins, and single raw U.S. coins, $500 and above. Eligible coins must be listed on the U.S. site, ebay.com, and must fall within the following categories:
U.S. Coins = 253
Coins & Paper Money > Coins: US
Canadian Coins = 3377
Coins & Paper Money > Coins: Canada
World Coins = 256
Coins & Paper Money > Coins: World
Sets, lots, collections, and mystery products are not eligible at this time.
What this means for you
Keep listing as normal. If your coin is eligible, the Authenticity Guarantee badge will appear automatically. There’s no opt-in or opt-out.
When an eligible item sells, ship it within your stated handling time to the authentication address shown in your order details.
Upload tracking after you ship. If you buy labels on eBay, tracking will be uploaded automatically.
Ship each Authenticity Guarantee order individually. These items should not be combined with other orders.
