      USPS® Rate and Service Update

The United States Postal Service has announced rate and service updates effective July 12, 2026. We’ve highlighted the updates to eBay Labels below. 📦 Updates to USPS Mail & Shipping Service Pricing  Ground Advantage: although USPS is changing how it prices packages under 1 lb, the good news is eBay Labels will continue to offer the same four weight tiers with no rate increases at this time. Rates for packages over 1 lb are also unchanged. Media Mail rates are decreasing by an average of 1.8%. Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express have no rate changes. eBay Standard Envelope updated rates are: 1 oz $0.78 2 oz $1.07 3 oz $1.36 ⚠️ Policy Updates: Hazmat Shipping & DIM Measurements  Dimensional Weight Updates: USPS is changing both the DIM divisor and the rounding logic to calculate dimensional weight. The DIM divisor is changing from 166 to 139 and measurements will be rounded up to the next whole number. Ground Advantage Cubic and Priority Mail Cubic will continue to round to the nearest quarter inch. Example: A countertop blender ships in a carton measuring 16.4" × 12.4" × 9.4" and weighs 8 lbs. Previous USPS rules: Dimensions rounded to the nearest whole inch (16" × 12" × 9"), resulting in a dimensional weight of 11 lbs. using the 166 DIM divisor. Current USPS rules: Dimensions are rounded up (17" × 13" × 10"), resulting in a dimensional weight of 16 lbs. using the 139 DIM divisor. Even though the blender weighs only 8 lbs., it is now rated at 16 lbs. because USPS charges the higher of the dimensional weight or the actual scale weight.  When using eBay Labels, be sure to enter accurate weight and dimensions and we’ll do the calculations for you. Hazmat Shipping Updates Handling Fee: A $7.50 fee per package will be charged for  packages containing hazardous material for Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express shipments. Noncompliance Fee: A $50.00 fee per package will be charged for every package that does not meet USPS Hazmat requirements for Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express and Ground Advantage shipments. Reminder: When reusing packaging, ensure that any old markings, labels, barcodes, or shipping information that do not apply to the current shipment are completely removed or covered. To learn more, visit USPSDelivers.com Cubic pricing eligibility is expanding, with the maximum allowable dimensions on any side increasing from 18 inches to 22 inches for both Priority Mail and Ground Advantage. The eBay shipping calculator will update rates when the changes take effect. As always, thank you for selling on eBay.  The eBay Shipping Team

New EU customs duty now in effect for low-value imports

Starting July 1, 2026, the European Union is introducing a new customs duty of €3 on imported items valued under €150. To help ensure a smooth buying and selling experience, eBay has updated its import fee experience for eligible transactions and will continue to support cross-border trade into the EU. What this means for sellers  Due to these changes in EU customs requirements, USPS label purchases on eBay are temporarily unavailable for shipment to the EU. Sellers should purchase their shipping label directly from their carrier to complete their shipment. For sellers using eBay International Shipping (eIS), applicable import fees, including any customs duties, will continue to be handled as part of the program. Buyers will pay applicable import fees at checkout and should not be charged additional import fees at delivery. For sellers using their own shipping methods, carriers may collect applicable import fees as part of the import process. Some carriers may begin requiring duties-prepaid shipping, also known as Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), into the EU for certain services or destinations. Sellers should check with their shipping provider regarding any new EU requirements, and review their pricing and shipping arrangements, as appropriate. What this means for buyers For items shipped through eBay International Shipping (eIS), applicable import fees will be shown at checkout and buyers should not be charged additional import fees at delivery. For items shipped using a seller's own shipping method, carriers may collect applicable import fees as part of the import process. Depending on the shipping service used, buyers may be contacted by the carrier about applicable import fees before delivery. Delivery times may also be longer than usual during the initial implementation period as carriers and customs authorities adjust to the new requirements. What’s next? We will continue to monitor the implementation of the new EU requirements and provide updates as additional guidance becomes available. We encourage sellers to check back regularly for the latest information. As always, our goal is to make international trade as simple as possible. Please note that the €3 customs duty applies per unique item under the applicable EU customs rules. For more information, see the European Commission’s guidance page . Thank you for being part of the eBay community.

Now Streaming - Proven Summer Marketing tricks

Summer Marketing Tactics | eBay for Sellers Webinar Recap Last week, eBay seller Chuck Van Pelt joined eBay Product Marketing Manager Evan Swanson and ProSeller Account Manager Alex Lobos to share proven  Summer Marketing Tactics at the latest eBay for Sellers Webinar.  The webinar focused on one central idea: consistently using Seller Hub marketing tools can increase conversions and drive long-term growth. Key strategies from the session are below, and the full session is available to watch on YouTube.    Key Takeaway The strongest sellers combine multiple marketing tools as a coordinated strategy. By leveraging Seller-Initiated Offers, Sale Events, Volume Pricing, Order Discounts, Coupons, and Newsletters together, sellers can improve conversion rates, move inventory faster, increase order values, and build long-term customer loyalty. Turn Buyer Interest Into Sales Faster Seller-Initiated Offers (SIO) help you engage buyers who have already shown interest. Recent enhancements to SIOs include: Offer negotiations integrated directly into buyer messaging Ability to resend expired offers through messages Extended 96-hour counteroffer windows Centralized offer management and automation controls in Seller Hub One standout insight: buyers who message a seller are 10x more likely to convert when they receive an offer. Sellers were encouraged to respond quickly, automate offers when possible, and focus on highly engaged buyers rather than broad discounting. Keep Inventory Moving Aging inventory ties up both cash and storage space. Rather than letting products sit indefinitely, sellers should reduce stale inventory by using Sale Events and targeted promotions. Recommended tactics include: Using "Days on Site" filters to identify older inventory Running short, focused sales rather than permanent storewide discounts Creating structured discount tiers to gradually move aging inventory Seller Chuck Van Pelt summarized the philosophy simply: "Run a store, not a storage facility." Increase Average Order Value Two key tools help drive larger purchases: Volume Pricing encourages buyers to purchase multiple quantities of the same item. This works especially well for consumables, parts, and everyday essentials that buyers often reorder. Order Discounts reward buyers for adding more items to their cart by offering percentage discounts or minimum purchase promotions. Chuck shared how offering discounts on multiple CDs significantly increases cart size, with combined shipping helping offset the cost of discounts. Build Loyalty and Repeat Purchases Coupons and Store Newsletters are effective tools for staying connected with buyers after the initial sale. Sellers can use these tools to: Reward loyal customers Re-engage past buyers Promote new inventory and seasonal sales Encourage repeat purchases Coupons can also serve as a customer service tool, helping turn potentially negative experiences into positive ones by demonstrating goodwill and encouraging future business. Test, Learn, and Optimize Speakers stressed that the most effective sellers continuously test different discount levels, promotions, and marketing strategies to determine what works best for their specific category and customer. The recommendation: start experimenting now so you know which tactics drive results before entering the critical Q4 holiday selling season.

EU Right to Repair Directive: What business sellers need to know

If you sell goods to customers in the EU, you may need to update your repair information and buyer communications to comply with new EU Right to Repair rules. Starting July 31, 2026, when a EU buyer contacts you about a faulty item and asks for a remedy, you must offer a choice of repair or replacement. If they choose a repair, your warranty period is extended by 12 months. This applies to all general goods. What you need to do For general goods: If you are a business seller offering goods to buyers in the EU, and a EU buyer invokes their statutory rights during the warranty period, you have the following responsibilities: If an item is reported as faulty or not as described, you must offer the buyer a choice between repair or replacement. If a buyer chooses a repair, the warranty period for the item is extended by an additional 12 months. You must also inform the buyer of this extension before you conduct a repair. We recommend reviewing and updating your warranty processes and all published policies to reflect this. Purchases made before July 31, 2026 are not subject to these requirements. Additional requirements for certain products listed in Annex II: For certain products, in the categories listed in Annex II of the Directive - including washing machines, washer-dryers, fridges, dishwashers, TVs, vacuum cleaners, tumble dryers, welding equipment, smartphones, tablets, cordless phones, servers and data storage products, and products that include batteries for light electric vehicles (such as e-bikes, e-scooters, and similar devices) - additional requirements may apply. These requirements apply if you are the EU-based manufacturer. If the manufacturer is outside the EU, someone in the EU must take over its repair obligation. This will be the manufacturer’s EU authorized representative, or if there is none, the importer, or if there is no importer, the distributor. For goods listed in Annex II Check the EU Ecodesign rules for your products to understand which spare parts, repair information, and services you must offer, and how long they must remain available. Offer repair services for the duration of your repair obligation. On eBay, publish repair information, including details about coverage, repair options, and typical repair prices. You can make this information available through seller notes, the item description field, and/or the order confirmation email. If Annex II repair obligations don’t apply to you, you may still want to help your buyers by informing them who they should contact for a repair. Thank you for selling on eBay.
