The postal system is no longer a federal government agency - it is what is known as quasi-government meaning that the government must approve any rate changes and some operational ones - they can't eliminate Saturday home delivery without government approval for example. Since they are still a 6-day ooperation and Veterans Day was not made a Monday holiday like President's Day - Saturday is the postal holiday this year.
Fourth of July and Veterans always fall when they fall. I just know here in the Washington DC area it is going to be super quiet this weekend with everything closed. The postal workers are ALSO taking the day off - gov or not.
