how can i list more than 1 "same" item in auction format?

listed a collectible pin in auction format... have 2 of them...

was trying to change the quantity to 2 but it won't let me.

it works in FP format but not in auction format.

ebay won't allow duplicate listings.

so how am i supposed to list 2 of the same meaning 1 listing per item (NOT a lot)???

thanks for any help...

Yes, dutch auctions are long gone. They were too confusing so eBay did away with them.

The second auction will be automatically hidden from search by eBay. You'll see a block of red text next to the listing saying that it will be hidden.

As I said above, it makes more sense to wait before you list the duplicate.

Example: if it's a 10 day auction, and 7 days before the first sees a bid, then the second auction would only have 3 days of visibility (yes, the clock counts down even though it's hidden). Better to wait so you don't waste a listing.

The standard practice when you list a duplicate auction item is for eBay to show the first listing and hide the second from search until the first one receives a bid. You would be better off waiting to list the 2nd item.

You cannot have a qty of 2 on an auction listing, only FP.

thanks for the info...

ebay makes absolutely no sense.

i mean if it was an item that i thought could go very high, i could see the reason not to list 2 at a time.

not in this case...

just wanted to list them both right away and forget about it...

oh well...

how do you hide the second listing from search?

long ago ebay used to have something called dutch auctions...

is it long gone???

again thanks for the help...

@lemarcheaupuces

If the first sells for a good price, I would be tempted, to do the second BIN at that fixed price.

^^This^^

The auction should give you a good idea of how to price the second item.

OR if you get multiple bids you could do a SCO to the runner up bidder

Re: how can i list more than 1 "same" item in auction format?

You don't.  Unless you're selling them as a lot of 2, you will need to list them separately.  I would probably list one and then if there was more than one bidder make a SCO after the listing ended to the runner up.  Or you could merely wait until the first one sold and relist it.

To be quite frank, letting potential bidders know that you multiples tends to hurt bidding since it takes away some of the urgency when bidding.

It would probably be better to use "sell similar".  Sometimes if a buyer notices that their item has been relisted, they get worried or even upset about how the seller is (apparently) handling their transaction.

Or wait until you've done the label before relisting = )
