OK, someone explain this to me again.
EBay claim to have over 130 million subscribers.
As they say, and I quote from their own published statistics here:
100 million visitors eh?
So, I post a listing for a Matchbox "Vauxhall Cresta"........and after a few days see a total of ONE view, and that, presumably, only because I paid $2.99 for a supposedly "promoted" listing. Other non-promoted listings show "NO views!" - which is normal - right? (even when it shows 'watchers?' How exactly do they 'watch' it without 'viewing' it?)
Can't be because it's "too expensive" or "crappy photography." It certainly isn't due to "lack of detail" or
"Disinterest" in diecast cars.....because ONLY ONE PERSON (out of 130,000,000 IN THE WORLD (forty plus million in the US alone) HAS EVEN SEEN IT!"
'One view' out of that many active buyers is just not possible. (Unless of course, most of them cannot SEE the listing for whatever reason! which I suspect is the true reason)
When I began selling cars like this in the early 2000's, there were normally a few views moments after I posted it. After a few days, there were usually 150-200 views (often, way more) with many watchers. This was the norm until 2015-16 when it began to slacken off. By 2020 the first day might net 30 views......so here we are now with a highly saleable Vauxhall Cresta and just the one view!
Oh yeah, and plus the questionable decision by Ebay to take a commission for God's sake, from the sales tax and shipping costs," NEITHER OF WHICH are income.

things change! The reason why you don't get views. The platform is very un-organized. Your listing will be on the top of the listing if it is set to the lowest price. They want all buyer to see lowest price first, That including shipping charges or best offer.
Platform: When it is set to lowest price for first search, You get more views. Other listing may intervine by showing parts or listed very cheap but sold for parts only. It make harder buyer to see the actual product
Buyer sometime don't care about the conditon, They see the price only.
Sales in some area has gone down dramatically in 2023. This all started when eBay made some changes in 2022 category changes. This effect a lot of people especially the view count. The view count didn't exist, Zero Views but watcher. It also effected a lot of people revenue for 2 or 3 months until it was fix. My 2022 ebay taxes show the down swing from the effect. This was a fact, It was all over google, Social media and Youtube.
Since that effect happen, More and more changes began happening end of 2022 towards the begining 2023. Since that point. Everything was out of whack. Thanks to eBay keep making changes and screwing things up.
2023 didn't help as well with eBay scandal for stocking and abusing their own privacy act.

I totally agree, Since eBay gone down hill, FB Marketplace sales has gone up. The things i couldn't sale on eBay. It is moving along on facebook. Last year I made 1K to 2k a week now my sales are not even 200 a week. Its the same items as well, Normally differently items come along. Those item that been sitting on eBay sold on facebook either local pickup or shipping.

Oh, I’ll look at Canadian listings. But I rarely buy - the shipping is too expensive. I’ve bought twice from Canada - and returned once.

I NEVER do. Any time I search I go straight to US only.

I don't know why Canadians buy from the US. Shipping cost is beyond ignorant! I sold a jacket to a US buyer. It cost me $28 Cdn to mail it. He returned it & the cost was $65!!

It isn't irrelevant. I've sold 1000s of items to the US through eBay. Nothing through FBM. Of course it makes a difference.

You are comparing Ebay to a PORN site?????? Why in the world would you do that? What kind of a point are you trying to make?

Also, no views does not mean no one has seen your item. When I do a search for 1960 Matchbox Cresta I got 13 results. If yours was 1 of the 13 listings I saw, but since I didn’t click my mouse on your item eBay it didn’t count it as a “view” according to eBay. A “view” is when a buyer one click away from making a purchase, which means the buyer has to click their mouse on your item from the search results.
If a seller’s item has 100 impressions which means their item came up in a buyers search result 100 times but no “views” they should try to figure out why buyers aren’t clicking thru on their item. Is it because of price of item, price of shipping, not a good picture, buried on page 10 due to other sellers selling identical item, and etc. Sellers have to give a reason for buyers to click on and “view” their items. Also, even if an sellers item comes up in search 1,000 times but your item is a lot more expensive than the other identical items you will not get very many “views” if any.

Also, keep in mind ebay is a worldwide wide sight. Not all 100,000,000 visitors are from the United States.

I only make purchases. Another person who commented reminded you that eBay is international. Well, a "store" may be listed as located in the U.S., but I have found several to appear to be a "front." Then, today, I see a seller located in the U.S. - in one of the top urban cities - with over 20,000 listings. No way to block their results. No way to report 'legal' listings - I mean, with over 20,000 listings, are they a subdivision of Amazon? Of course the feedback is great. It is the neutral, and negative few that cinch wishing eBay would take greater control of massive-listing sellers, especially with rather unlikely locations. I mean, how much can warehouses in Atlanta, GA cost.

PS And part of it is - am I a fool not to buy from them? They have full eBay sanction. And, unfortunately, many of the one item I am seeking. Well. I'll stay a fool and not buy.
