Yesterday morning I received a strange email from <mipsupport2@ebay.com>

The letter states:

Dear MIP Seller,

Due to eBay’s regular security maintenance efforts, we are sending a warning notification during your FTP initialization. Simply choose “yes” to continue.

Then there is a gray box with all these codes.

Under it says thank you for your co-operation

eBay MIP team

Is this legit or a scam to get my information

Sounds scammy to me. Was the email in your internal ebay emails or in your outside email? If the latter, a scam for sure.

Just my outer one. I only use the email for here. I thought it was strange. The only thing is I heard a long time ago. that ebay does send out verification emails, but I've been on for about 5 years. I did update my card recently.

@findersltd Any messages from eBay go directly to your internal eBay messages. At no point do they send you only an email to your regular email account, which it sounds like that is what happened. Do not reply to this. These are phishing scams which once you reply they hook you in. They submit to many email accounts and know that anyone who replies back is a legitimate email. That's when they come back full throttle.

Ignore and you can report this email to eBay directly. You can always contact eBay directly using social media at any time. If there is anything wrong with your account, believe me that eBay WILL get in touch with you quickly. Best of luck to you....

Forward the email with headers to spoof@ebay.com.

Thank you! I did look in at the security help and the email it came from is definitely fake, because it has the mipsupport@ebay. The @ is the give away as eBay does not have that in their emails. You are, also, right that they didn't send it to me by name.

I just wanted to make sure.
