Just a WAG, a Mexican tourist piece?

I'm inclined to agree because the carving is obviously machined. Just tourist onyx then.
I'm just curious about the significance (if any) of what the carving means.
Thanks mforjan!

Dunno, but to me the image looks like an Elephant King (so maybe India instead of Mexico?)
PS - I'm assuming you were maybe wanting to ask any Gents who may be here, not the resident Germs, for their input??

I'm not seeing elephant kings. In fact, I'm not seeing anything I can put a name to. With the carving positioned sideways, it's hard for me to see. If origin is Mexico, as it seems typical of, I've seen similar pieces carved with pre-Columbian Aztec/Mayan designs, like paramids, Aztec calendars or masks. Sometimes zodiac symbols are used, animals, plants - whatever the artisan fancies. I think the carvings are mainly decorative - not meant to convey a specific message.

Thank you all for responding. I am not able to flip the photo around in Lithium's platform. I'm sorry about that.
I will keep looking for other items like mine.
Thank you again!
