Coach Poppy purse - pretty sure it is not real

In doing research on this purse, I believe it is not real for the following reasons:  1) The C's on the side are all split, 2) the silver metallic material on the strap seems to be flaking a bit, and 3) the creed says 'finest materials and leather' - I think that could be a problem.  The inside is a mess - tons of pen markings, but the outside is in pretty good shape, but of course, I won't post it if it is fake.  There is another one exactly like this one posted on eBay now - the title of the other one is 'Coach Poppy Op Art Glam Tote Bag Black Gray Model 15331 Authentic'.  Thanks for any help you can give me - either way.

It makes me really angry that these so-called "guides" are still being referred to because most of them are probably 10 years old or more and they were wrong when they were first published and are even more wrong now. Do you have any idea how many genuine items are reported as fakes because of this huge pool of misinformation and outright lies? Or how many honest sellers are accused of selling fakes because a perfectly genuine purse doesnt meet one of those ridiculous rules, like the split Cs or the even worse "all Coaches with YKK zippers are genuine" horse hockey? Weve seen it over and over again and anyone who sells genuine brand name items on Ebay is always at risk of falsely being accused of selling a fake because of them.

Ebay is in the process of removing ALL published Guides by members and while there are a very small number that Im sorry to lose, there are HUNDREDS that are filled with often serious mistakes that have caused countless problems for honest people. I wish the nitwits who "wrote" them - actually copied and pasted someone elses guide with the same stupid mistakes repeated - could be forced to pay out of their pockets for all the money lost by honest sellers. Good riddance.

There are two sets of guides here that I will miss, one of them at least, the set of six Salearea Coach Guides, is now available on Saleareas Facebook page. They're still here at Ebay for a few more days and I STRONGLY recommend that you read them and if possible copy them and save the files to your computer. This is the one you need to read first, it covers most of those mistakes and lies in those "guides" and explains exzactly WHY theyre so wrong:

What exactly do you mean by "the Cs on the side are all split"?

It sounds like one of those dozens of ridiculous so-called Rules found in dozens of equally ridiculous, useless and dangerously deceptive piles of horse-poop called "authenticity guides". Explain, please.

"... the silver metallic material on the strap seems to be flaking a bit..."

Well, yeah, metallics tend to do that. Metallics are just a layer of gunk painted over other layers, and stuff like that CAN flake when its handled or used a lot. Even "metallic" leathers on the body of a purse (even a Coach!) can and DO flake.

"the creed says 'finest materials and leather'

Why is that a problem? How many other creeds in fabric-and-leather Coaches from the last 15 years have you looked at, besides the "one on Ebay" (theres actually THREE in Current listings BTW plus maybe another 4 or 5 in Completed, all with the same creed wording and what might be your "split" Cs on the sides) thats completely identical? You even have a style F13738 in your listings with the same creed wording thats only 5 months older than this one, so why is the wording in that one OK and not this one? Im confused.

It sounds like youre upset with the condition of the purse and are trying to convince yourself, us, or the seller that its fake and you should get a full refund. If you dont like the condition, complain to the seller about the CONDITION, not the authenticity, because even though it might have been rode hard and put away wet, it looks completely authentic to me.

BTW, Im assuming that the one youre asking about is actually in your hands and those are your photos since I cant find that exact purse and serial number in Current or recently Completed listings on Ebay. Just want to clarify that.

Thank you so much for all of your responses.  I read all of that on one of the discussion boards - I certainly won't rely on them in the future.  And yes, that purse is in my possession - I have not yet posted it.  I also did not buy it on eBay -  I picked it up at a local garage sale.  I will post it, along with the other one.  Thanks much.

Thanks again for all of your help. I have copied all of the linked material to my computer, and will use them instead of the old guides. And I will continue to upload pictures for your help. I am glad they are taking the guides down, now that I know that many of them are incorrect. And I hope other sellers take note of your comments.
