That Renaissance wedding scene is annoying me. I know the source painting has been identified on the board previously, but I cannot find the thread.

Looking at this again, and at the size, it is most likely a tourist offering from a nearby gallery to where the original painting is housed.

That's true, but the aged and battered look of the box might not be an entirely bad thing in the eyes of buyers looking for a decorative piece.

Oh, I agree. The fading is an indication of age and that may add to the appeal.

Gesso & gold gilding. Probably made in Italy though may be of other European manufacture. Are the faceted stones made of glass or acrylic? Is the artwork on top an applied piece of paper? Does the interior of the box have no smell or does it smell old? All questions that help date the piece & establish value. Good luck!
