It appears to be Roman. I may even be wrong on that. There is a helpful ancient coin forum here

I think this is it (the link is for reference only):

And surely bronze - not silver - given the verdigris.

Hey AF,
I was band from the Antiquers Forum site and all associated (Cointalk Forum) sites for 55 years, 2 or 3 years ago now for reasons I'm sure you are well aware of.
But I always was, and still am a fan of yours...
Thanks for always striving to help. On the old eBay Antiques Board, that other site I was band from and this one.
Thank you!

Argon, you are AWESOME!
My apologies. The coin having a silvery-sheen I assumed it was old silver.
Again, thank you so much as always for your help.

I voted up your tribute to Afantiques because it's well-deserved. I only wish I could help more with your interesting objects, but I usually keep my mouth shut because I know nothing about them!

Ditto.
And the "AWESOME" one to you.

Well I suppose it would be pretty awesome if I actually had expert knowledge of Azes I and his Indo-Scythian monetary policy, but of course I don't.
Try putting "bronze" "horseback" "ancient" "coin" into Google images and look at the first page of results . I'll accept the credit for the "bronze" part, but the rest was down to Google (and sheer luck).

"Awesome" not for this, or any other, particular answer. "Awesome" for being, like afantiques, smart and cheery and generous.

FYI - I've migrated back here and it's good to see some of the old folks. 🙂

I think you need to do a lot of research. I have a repro coin that looks just like this that was given out as a premium for something about ten years ago. I can't remember what we bought, but it had the same guy on the same horse.
