Any thoughts on this mixed media sculptural art? It is signed Pau y Alcaraz which translates to Pau and Alcaraz in Spanish.
It may not be an artist’s signature and just the name of the couple?
It’s not a heavy piece and does not appear to be vintage.
It is large 25” tall x 19” wide.
I don’t know what the medium is but it is rough.
Any help at all would be really appreciated. Thoughts on depicted time period, style of clothing , anything at all ?
thank you!!

Add the term costume design/theatrical to your searches. Look to be 80's but just a guess. And remember to tip your waitress/waiter!

The 'y' could be a middle initial.
As to the clothing the enormous collar and style of the clothing looks like the Spanish Elizabethan era 1500-1600 AD.

The y is not a middle initial. It's the Spanish for "and" as OP mentioned. The handwriting dates it to early 1990s at earliest.
Looks to be paper art on foam core in a quasi-shadow box.
Gun to my head? It's Elizabeth I & Philip II of Spain.
