Last letter could be a small looped "e" or a "i" missing its dot.

Brackets added to back appear to use Phillips screws, which were not invented until the early 1930s and did not widely become used in manufacturing for years afterward. My 1940 vehicle; for instance, has no Phillips screws - they are are slotted.
