18 August 2023- Greetings to all paper money, coin, & token collectors where-ever you might be. (This Prisoner of War Camp Money IS NOT FOR SALE).  Another neat item issued during World War One.  

Years 1916 - 1918.

Size 108mm X 68mm.

Grade Uncirculated.

Reference Cambell 1313.

Same design front and back.

777 - First mention of Aschach when Monastery Kremsmunsler built.

1512 - Received market 'rights'.

1918 - Became part of Upper Austria. (Aschach was always in the same location but the 'political' divisions differed from time to time).

2018 - Population 2,201.  This is very close to the 'lowest' population

for a Heron owned item.  Could be called 'slightly obscure'?

**Collecting these wartime items is mucho fun.  Especially World War One items.  Always something 'new' for the accumulation.  And that is always the fun part.  This is a great hobby for a lifetime!**

Yes! You are correcto mucho regarding 'munzen'.  However, a strange thing has happened to Heron since he became a coin collector in April of 1946.  And a paper money collector & dealer in 1970. All of these years in numismatics with all the different words used by countries that issued coins or tokens or paper money has caused Heron to see one of these words and immediately think Money!  

There are many words that equal money;

Monnaie.

Geld.

Dinero (Spanish).

Denaro (Italiano)

Dinheiro. (Port.)

And:

Mark, Pfennig. Pfennige. Pennia. 

Thaler.  Taler (alternate spelling)/ Dollar USA spelling.

Heller. Haller. Kreuzer (also spelt Kreutzer)

Schilling (Austrian spelling) Shilling (English money)

Stuber (similar Niederlanden Stuiver).

Gutschein. Notgeld (emergency money)

Some names remembered from those years acquiring Swiss coins.

Franc - Rappen.  Batzen,  Denier, Centime, Sols, Florins (Swiss Florins) Bluzger, Gulden.

English: Penny, Pence (as in Six Pence) Shilling, Florin, Half Crown

Crown. Sovereign.

Then there are versions of Centime: Centimo, Centesimo, Centavo.

Then Reales, Pesos, Soles, Colones, Quetzales.

That is probably enough to illustrate what has happened to this Alt Geezer.  Heron sees a name of a currency and instantly thinks Money.

Money is good no matter what the name. 

(Quetzales is a favorite of el Heron.  He bought a large batch of these

when he was traveling Central America as Export Manager.  Very well designed paper monnaie).
