@englishgentuk ,

We need some more information. It depends if it was auction or fixed price listing with make offer option.

If it was an auction depending on how much time there is left you may or may not be able cancel.

Why did you change your mind? Did you find a better deal?

@englishgentuk

I'd immediately send an apologetic note to the seller before they accept your offer. Good luck to you both.

The best solution would be to change your mind BEFORE and not after.

As mtgraves7984 stated, your best bet is to throw yourself on the mercy of the seller.  You have no tools to cancel on your own.

You can retract your offer at this page.

You don't need a reason, @englishgentuk -- just choose Other.

Ask your seller to cancel , then you  wait & see if that worked

Cancel an offer as buyer

Just wanted to provide an update on this thread.

I contacted the seller, who didn't know the new process by which an offer, once accepted, is automatically paid for. So they processed it, but were then able to cancel.

Kudos to the seller.

This is how you treat customers, by understanding that buyers do change their minds AFTER making an offer and rather than loving it when buyers do this, have the human touch and don't take advantage of their customers.

Again, thanks for all of the helpful responses.
