Ads on Eb ay site

Ebay accepts ads from fraudulent sellers. There's a large ad at top of page for Microsoft software that is a total scam. I purchased a Office Pro 2021 and the activation key that they sent is a total bogus one. Ebay does NOT protect the customers but only is after the  money without checking the legitimacy of the ad buyers.

EBay doesn't control the third-party ads on the site. Like many other sites, they contract with Ads by Google for ad placement. If there's an issue you need to contact Google. Since you're not buying the product from eBay you need to do the same due diligence you do for any purchase. EBay can't follow you around the web vetting every other site you choose to buy from.

The issue isn't about wanting "EBay to follow you around the web vetting every other site you choose to buy from." It is about blatently fraudulent adverts hosted by ebay appearing at the top of your ebay home page when you are logged in to your ebay account. For a long time a while back ebay was hosting the family of fraudulent adds of the "Plug in this simple device and cut your electricity / heating / whatever costs by 90%". These adds were a well known scam selling useless and potentially dangerous fake electrical gadgets, but ebay tolerated them for months. Ebay has a responsibility to weed this stuff out, and if "Ads by Google" keeps serving them up then ebay should boot "Ads by Google". Other retail websites don't feed you third party ads when you are logged in to your account and ebay shouldn't do it either. There should be a difference between browsing ebay without logging in, and being logged in. Being logged in should come with protections.

It's not eBay allowing those ads, it's your browser. Get an ad-blocker extension and that will block them from being shown.
