Stack of Copper holders... what are they?

Our charity was given these to sell.  Can anyone help me out on exactly what they are?  Believe they are made of heavy copper.  Many thanks for any help!

Looks like a set of individual ashtrays to me.  Any markings on them?   Just guessing - but could easily have been for a bridge table, where 4 are seated.

Ashtrays for sure.  Probably for the bridge (or other game) table.

I found one online, they called it "antique asian stacking ashtrays hammered brass", but the photo takes me to a dead end.

Definitely MCM stacking ashtrays.
