I have been fortunate and have only had a few instances that an item either was misrepresented or didn't arrive in the promised time. For me, I find that you must take charge as a buyer and give parameters of time frame and what and when you expect action, that way you do not miss the time frame and the dispute and resolution if you have not been treated fairly. Jut my opinion on what worked for me.

This is %100 percent true.Anybody that wants something for nothing should shop on e-bay.They get there item, say it's not as described and ebay will CHEERFULLY refund there money which is your's the seller!!! This is a scam that is growing by leaps and bounds and of course e-bay doesn't have a clue!! Did I forget to mention the item they bought you will never see.

Sent camera to NIKON to have estimate and repair.. item cost 250.00 to repair.. didn't repair.. even sent estimate Nikon sent me to seller.. they never responded afterwards.. so buyer gets screwed.. filing a BBB suit and state attorney gen office.

Apparenty buyer protection doesn't pay if ebay denies it. I purchased a camera from a seller and it arrived non-functioning. Contacted seller. I sent item to NIKON .. they sent back an estimate becuase item was broken. I got item back (not repaired was close to 250.00 to fix) Ebay says they won't pay for some un-disclosed reason.. so you tell me. Out 235.00 for camera and Buyer gets screwed. Filed cases.. lost appeal.. now going to BBB and consumer sites to file more.

I noticed on my eBay invoice today that eBay charges a fee on the final value of shipping--even if you don't use eBay's shipping mechanisms. I find this AGREGIOUS and will never use eBay again. Talk about nickeled and dimed. Not cool.

Hi, Not exactly related to your post but as a buyer who just got screwed over by eBay I have a story to tell from the other side. I purchased some LED diodes from a supplier in Hong Kong. The diodes arrived but were not as advertised on the buy-it-now auction. I attempted to negotiate with the Chinese supplier but the best I could get out of him was to box up the diodes in several batches. He would then run several auctions and send me the money for each when he got paid (only from China....). I then sought relief from the "eBay buyer protection" and got screwed again. Ebay agreed that what I got was not what I ordered, but to get my money back I have to return the bad parts to Hong Kong with tracking. Here is where it gets really really stupid. The auction cost me $102. As I have since discovered, this buyer has his shipping paid for by the Chinese government. My CHEAPEST COST to ship it back to Hong Kong with tracking would be $107.90. EBay tells me that they can do nothing because their rules state to receive my money back I have to return parts to the seller whether it was a fraudulent sale or not. So their solution is that I pay more than the entire auction to send back the parts. The seller would get back his parts to sell again. He is out no money for shipping, and I get hosed by the seller and eBay both. EBay tells me am out of luck till I fork over another hundred dollars to get back a net of nearly nothing of my original $102 expense. I do not know who I hate more at this time. The thief in Hong Kong or the rich eBay brass who are getting richer helping this guy rip me off. Oh did I mention that the seller is still on eBay and still has some fraudulent auctions going?..And eBay is doing nothing about it....excpet making more money off of it.

Ebay stores beware as my ebay store selling remanufactured compressors has been suspended because of poor performance which is impossible to maintain because of a multiple number of reasons causing cumtomer complaints. Of which are legitimate complaints but only one percent valid or our fault. This store cost thousands of dollare to set up and a $6000.00 dollar inventory required by ebay. The response we received from a ebay agent was they were looking at stores selling used or remanufactured auto parts that fall below their performance standards to suspend with no recourse. I now have a $6000.00 dollar invertory that i can not sell. william d. larkin

Recently I started selling items on ebay. I been on ebay for almost 12 years and mostly bought items that were great deals. Had some issues with a few sellers but nothing major, but it never occurred to me, whether I won the auction or did a buy it now, that I didn't have to pay for what I bought until I started selling items. Since June of 2013 I've had 8 buyers that won the auction or did a buy it now that turn around and don't pay for their items. Made numerous calls to eBay customer service to find out why they permit this. Not only does eBay permit this to happen but these deadbeats can do it 3 or 4 more times a year before eBay will do anything about it. Sold an old cell phone in July, then the buyer didn't pay for it. Opened the useless Unpaid item Report and relisted the phone again. It sold again to another buyer who, you guessed it, decided he didn't want to pay for his item to. Complained again to ebay which by the way was another complete waste of time, they simply don't care. Item finally sold the third time. Then just just last week, sold 2 items through an auction and 1 through By it Now and what happened you say, only one of the buyers paid. This obviously is an epidemic problem on ebay that ebay will do nothing to stop. So if your a small seller like me and you sell an item on ebay, don't get to excited because the buyers probably won't pay and there is nothing you can do about it and ebay doesn't give a sh!t. Now if I was a stockholder in ebay and found out that the company I've invested in had a policy that restricted company revenue in the millions of dollars a year and because it has a policy thats created a massive problem with deadbeat buyers, who can do it 4 times a year, I'd sell my stock in a minute. That might explain why their stock is in the dumper now. The absolute worst thing about this issue is you can't even leave any kind of feedback to warn other sellers about these deadbeats and ebay just lets them keep bidding.

I use to think the buyer always had the advantage too BUT I just paid $75. + shipping. She showed 3 pictures of a """bright red""" handbag - I was in a "Search RED handbag"
catagory. The bag arrived - BURGUNDY OR MAROON - VERY DARK!!! SHE ALSO
STATED IN DESCRIPTION """RED""". So I was angry after spending hours finding what I wanted (good condition designer bag)...I told her I also wanted her to pay for the return shipping - she said "NO. THE PURSE IS RED". I opened a case - then got a notice from eBay she agreed to refund for purse AND her $8.50 s/h. But, eBay said I had to pay for the return shipping AND A SIGNED DELIVERY RECEIPT. At P.O. today they weighed it and it will cost me $12.50 to return it! CASE MARKED """""CLOSED"""" THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT AN EARTH HUMAN AT THE UNFAIRNESS OF HER MISCATAGORIZING THE ITEM.
No big deal you say - are you 77 years old and living on your Social Security? Of course I will survive but it is THE PRINCIPLE HERE AND THE COMPLETE UNFAIRNESS OF MY TIME AND ANGUISH AT HER MEAN WORDS.
I HATE EBAY'S POWER TO SAY SCREW YOU TO ALL OF US AS THEY ARE SO BIG
BUT I WILL PROBABLY USE IT LESS AND LESS.

I am officially done Selling on ebay, because of this exact issue! Ebay is absolute bull **bleep**, and the Seller has no protection. I wish all sellers would just tell ebay to suck it! It's gotten expensive to sell on here and you have NO protection against buyers who can do whatever the hell they want.......... EBAY SUCKS
But there was an announcement about the new terrific seller protection policies, just recently...[wink] I must say, the feedback protection for sellers seems to be much better now than it was in the past. However, I think PayPal has a lot of room left for improvement.
