I can't leave negative feedback???

I have buyers that never pay and never communicate.  When I go to leave feedback, all I know get are the choices of "positive" or "I'll leave feedback later".  Why can't I leave negative feedback anymore?

I'm mostly a buyer (a great buyer that takes winning an auction seriously), but occasionally I sell personal items.  I recently had an unpaid auction.  I realized that the bidder had a habit of not paying for his items because he had a 100% positive profile.  I realized too late that there were several negative notes about this buyer on his "positive" feedback.  

EBay doesn't support good business.  They don't care.  There is no way you can tell if a buyer is a crook vs. a great buyer.  There are no signs on their profile page.  How can a seller be protected from buyers like this?  My guess is that sellers will get more and more of these low life people and less and less of buyers like me.   Good luck to all of you sellers!   You'll need.  By the way, beware of holidaybless19

i agree with alot of the arguements here, (both for protecting buyers and protecting sellers)

however ultimately, i think its bad business for ebay to be allowing its income base (sellers) to leave because of its policy.

its become more focused on the customer rather than the seller.

however, rather than rant and complain, i think the system needs to be reviewed.

Make it so that if an unpaid item dispute escalates to the point that the buyer does not reply or pay, THEN allow sellers to leave negative feedback.

only if the seller has to escalate it does the negative feedback work both ways.

Same experience here.  Im not a frequent seller but never had a deadbeat until this year.   This year I have had 2 of 2 auctions listed this year end up not paid for by deadbeats. 

Not allowing buyers with unpaid strikes in my "buyer requirements" was no help either.  The first deadbeat only had 1 feedback and the second only started using the account 4 days prior to winning my auction.  The dispute process takes 8 days to get the unpaid strikes levied. 

They won the auction at the last second so it's not like I would have seen the feedback in time anyway.

Also, I tried to go back and research the user's feedback a little more again and now there is this:

"Private Feedback - This member, youriphonespecialist, has decided to make his/her Feedback comments private. Feedback can still be left for this user and the Feedback ratings left are shown above in summary format. Learn more about private Feedback."

So, now apparently sellers can completely hide their feedback as well?  THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!   Hmmm..  Let me guess why this user is hiding their feedback now..  It seems like they have 100% feedback when there are actually 100's of people leaving negative comments as "positive" feedback because they have no other way to warn others.

I have been trying to sell my iphone for 20 days now.  Will probably take me another month to get a sell to stick at this rate.  I'm probably just going to use Craigslist if this second chance offer doesn't go through.."

Hey, wouldn't it be great if an ebay rep chimed in here and enlightened us as to how the new rules and features are an improvement?

well it sucks -  i don't sell much, but i put 6 items for sale. 5 paid and 1 hasn't. i find that i have to give them another 4 days to pay when they clearly won't. sent 2 emails, no response.

i can't leave neg feedback - a genuine case of a buyer not fulfilling their part of the auction.
Ebay won't even leave neg feedback.

quite often when i have bought an item the seller will not leave feedback until we have. surely if you have paid straight away then you've done your bit?

we now won't leave any feedback as a buyer until it has been left for us - the true spirit of ebay is well and truly dead. the people who run it are just greedy.

Something just hit me in the head!  Question...Who's Ebay's main Customer?  Not the Buyers.  The sellers are!!!  The Sellers do all the work to put together listings for the buyers, pay all the fees...Ebay doesn't make money off buyers.  The buyer doesn't pay for anyting when purchasing...except the for the item purchased.  I've had a couple of non-paying buyers last month...one of 'em has been registered for 3 years with 0 feedback... Why are they still registered (so they can make the Sellers Life miserable?).  Wasted my time that I will never get back from the preperation, involvement and patience... Those Idle registery should be removed.  Listen to your CUSTOMERS

You have a point there, with eBay's main customers being the sellers, not the buyers - but this is nothing new. Scores of posts and entire threads of posts have already been about this very same topic. As for the zero feedback IDs, there are some people who create a bunch of "new" IDs, and then put them aside to be used later, in case their other ID gets suspended, or they want to make nasty little comments about people they disagree with, on discussion boards, or they want to make a retaliatory purchase with the intention to leave neg feedback to someone they dislike. Then they forget about that ID, or they have so many that they can't or won't want to go through the hassle of maintaining the new IDs. Then something happens - see above - and they begin using it.

Most Sellers do work a 9 to 5 shift then come home to post, photograph, print labels, and sort through inventory and list at their e bay sites.

Our work is often disregarded if not slandered and there are no real resolutions for the non payments, neg. feedback's, held payments due to neg feedback's or rude and malicious comments.

We try to do better and keep up with the growing demands and out right craziness from you our loyal " costumer" cause God knows you are always right. 

Oh by the way I know a great site that sells dictionaries if "yer" interested.

Ebay should allow neg/pos feedback for sellers also, not just the buyers. The profits Ebay makes are huge. They can afford to have a team dedicated for any complaints by the buyer or seller for inappropriate feedback.

I don't sell much on Ebay anymore because of the fees Ebay puts on the seller. Many times it's not worth selling an item because of these fees and I just keep the item or sometimes just throw it away. If another auction site becomes available, I'll probably leave Ebay.

I recently had a no payer after a best offer was made and accepted.

I filed a report but so far nothing is being done. The person who made the offer has bought and received several feedbacks since and will not communicate with me.

I re-listed and hope for the best. 

Might it be a good idea to have a separate web site with a list of dead beats that we can use to sort out the bad E-bayers from the good ones? 

It is impossible to leave bad feedback, but there are some really bad folks out there trying to scam the system and we need to be aware of them.

I sold a piece of equipment and was told that the money was in my Pay Pal account and it was OK to ship. I shipped it and then I checked that the money was in the account. It was not.

Luckily, PayPal covered the cost after I had to send them the e-mail message from them that it was OK to ship. This person was scamming E-Bay sellers for quite a while and I had no way of knowing that. If I knew what I know now, I would have prevented them from bidding.

No negative feedback is like the modern education system. Everyone passes even if they cannot read.

It is against Ebay rules to leave a negative feedback stated as a positive feedback. To not allow sellers to warn other sellers of less-than-honorable buyers is a travesty but one that Ebay seems to think is necessary

Perhaps another approach might be to charge $1 to leave a negative feedback and before it is posted, Ebay asks the recipient for their side of the story and then examine the evidence, emails etc, and determine who is right,The $1 would pay for the extra service and because each negative posted by a Buyer or a seller would be approved by Ebay, it would add much greater significance to the negative feedback and allow honorable buyers and sellers to help Ebay weed out the bums, which would be to everyone's advantage.

I have never had deadbeat buyers until recently. In the past 60 days I have had 4.

With no way to leave negative feedback, what is the point of even having feedback listed?

Now everyone's feedback will be 100% positive which is good for what? tricking sellers into resisting more auctions I think.

If you are exclusively a buyer on Ebay, you are absolutely great because you have a 100% positive feedback, no matter how badly you screw over sellers). The only people that can receive negatives (whether justified or not) are the sellers. Just aint right!

Seller's can no longer leave negative feedback on deadbeat buyers and this is the main reason I'm not as active on eBay as I use to be.  Sellers have to suck it up.  I've had this guy win a $300 auction and I will have to beg eBay to get my closing cost.  Not fair to let this jerk walk.  What good is feedback?

Spoofers are taking advantage of sellers not being able to receive negative feed back. Take giants12342012 for instance. Although it shows he has 100% positive feedback, read the comments. He has a long history (since May) and pattern of spoofing he has gotten away with. Giants will buy via "buy it now" then send a message stating he does not have enough money in his account in an attempt to spoof a seller to accept payment for a significantly lower amount then the agreed purchase. If you dont accept, he will just not pay for the item. This leaves the seller hung out to dry, having to wait to relist the item and go through the reconciliation red tape. Ebay is turning out to be unsafe for sellers as it seems to be vulnerable to spoofing.
