Zeppelin Mail

Hi all.

I'm afraid I don't have much for references on zeppelin mail, and yet, here I am trying to figure a few things out.

Item 1 below:

Questions are as follows:

1. What was the mail rate in May of 1934 from Germany to Brazil via Luftschiff?  And, what were the dates this rate was effective?

It seems to me it is likely a 1mark 50 Pfennig rate since that is the franking here.

2. The "3g" in blue  -I assume it is the weight of the item, which should be light enough for a single rate.  Confirmation on this?

Thanks in advance.

Rob

Second item:

I think I've figured this one out.  The thing that bugs me is I thought I had a book with a tracing of the green Lakehurst, NJ marking (upside down towards bottom).  does anyone have a clean representation of the marking I could use?

Last of three.

This is also a rate question.  Cover is mailed on May 6 of 1936.

It is a registered item.  So, how much for mail carriage on the Hindenburg and how much for registration?

Again, thanks for any and all help.

Hi Rob

The registration fee abroad was 30 pf. from Dec. 1, 1923 to end of war.

Here is a scan of your Lakehurst cancel and the Zeppelin cover and cards rates.

The last Zeppelin flight was flight to Essen/Mühlheim Aug. 20, 1939 but the rates ended Ma.1, 1940.

Hi Charlie..

I'm not sure which item you are referring to.  Zepps are out of my range of specialty, so I'm not sure what G370 is.

So, I'll cover all the bases here.  this is the back of the cover to Ottumwa, IA
