In the King James Version of the Bible, the word ghost appears 108 times.

Matthew 14:26 ... When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. "It's a ghost!" they said, and cried out in fear.

... So even long ago, the word 'ghost' was known... The Bible (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) warns not to believe... but there are so many unexplained occurrences which just 'happens' - sometimes it's hard not to consider it a real possibility. Human nature trying to make the illogical explainable...
